[V8] Why you stick a V8....

I love the thought of a V8 Allroad. But the dealer tells me that they still
have an enormous amount of trouble with tire balancing and alignment. I
know some folks here who have an early Allroad. Last I knew, they loved it,
although they held it directly responsible for several speeding tickets on
I-95 going toward Millinocket!
The 4.2 litre Allroad would be the ultimate Maine cruiser, though, PROVIDED
that the electrical and hydraulic systems in the car were reliable and
repairable. I wonder if anyone has one of these cars with 100K on the
clock. If it was still running well at that point, then I could consider
adding the car to the list. I understand that the 2.7 turbo motor has some
lag that some feel is pronounced. I have next to zero turbo lag in the
20Valve, and of course the purpose behind the V8 would be to have NO turbo
lag at all.

What about an Allroad Roger? It has 3 levels of height adjustment
(Autobahn, around town, and Maine rural roads) and you can get it with a 4.2
or a 2.7tt. I think the 2.7 is a bit of a pain reliability wise ($$), which
makes the 4.2 even more attractive (although more rare).
My biggest turnoff about these cars is the Tupperware they are clad in. I
am pleased to see the new ones are available with 'Tupperware painted body
color' which is unfortunately a $$ option on the Mulroney.
I think you are right on the money about only buying Audi Certified; more
than once I wish I had a get out of jail free card for my V8! :-)
Cheers,
- Jeremy

I question whether or not an S6 Avant would work at all also, simply because
the car sits lower on the ground than a regular garden variety A6.
