I have replaced the pump in my 200 20V with the new narrower pumps that are
the current "norm".
While it performs the same as the original, the refit did not go will and
the seating of the unit along with the
reducing basket was a PITA. I was not looking forward to doing the same
job on my "new" V8 which was humming
quite loudly. A friend pointed me to an overseas acquaintance, longstory
short, the original wide body pump is still available
in Euro land. Original PN = 0 580 464 991, supercession = 0 580 254 040.
I was not aware of the supercession when I bought the pump and was a little
dismayed as I found the difference even though all dimensions are
identical. My "old" pump did not look like the usual typ 44 on the bottom,
there was no screen and only a small inlet in what is a large plastic plug
in the bottom. It is now in and running well. Best part it was $125 to my
door and no mussing with new bits and smaller cages!
