[V8] TOTAL eclipse of the carport

My man pots and pans,

I have one of those Costco canopies myself, and was wondering what it'd
look like upside-down. Since your neighbor is clearly more in the
holiday spirit than you (he has lights along the upper roof as well as
the lower), I'd guess he's accepting responsibility with glee.

As far as the damage, my best guess from the pics is that you're looking
at $1500-$2000 damage max, give or take a few hundred (i.e. nowhere near
totalled). Corner light aside (I wish I had one to give you), there's
no need for replacement parts, is there? OK, maybe the c-pillar trim
piece. Your paint looks mighty clean-n-shiny, which means a competent
shop should be able to match or blend no problem.

If you've got some blemishes on neighboring panels, this might be the
time to get them done as well. If you have a friend of a friend in the
biz, maybe you'll be able to save some money by doing some prep work
yourself (sanding, grinding, removing trim on which a bad tape job would
leave overspray). Also, great chance to justify a new trunk emblem!

Anyway, if this is the worst thing 2006 has in store, you can look
forward to a great year!

-Dave-
