[V8] ECU test options

Honestly, VAG-COM/ProDiag may not give you *that* much more info than you can blink out via codes.  As I noted earlier, there is one thing you *will* get, and that is the ability to take the car out for a drive and log what the ECU sees.  You'll be able to see 10 parameters ... if you'd like I can e-mail a sample spreadsheet from when I did this recently on my car.  Perhaps when we once again are able to enter new data into the KB I'll see if I can put it there ... 

The only thing that a dealer would have over you with the manual and a copy of VAG-COM/ProDiag is whatever experience their service techs have with troubleshooting this sort of problem.
