[V8] When to cut losses and just pull the engine

Hey guys, Im new to this list but a legacy user on the UrQ list.

As part of the deal I made selling my TT and one of my UrQ's to a local
friend I aquired a 90 V8.

The car is in great condition (southwest car) but as no surprise its going
to need some love.  At a minimum it needs tires ( i planned on this one
anyway), right front axle (maybe just boot), most likely a steering rack,
and its not passing emissions (but it's in dire need of a tuneup), and of
course, unknown intervals mean I need to do the timing belt, etc.

Then engine is fairly low miles and it purrs like new, I mean this thing
runs great.

It was going to be my daily driver 100% highway miles, but with all else
considered, maybe its just an engine donor for a UrQ project...

Ideas?
