I want to thank everyone for their help and input on my lock removal. The mechanical assembly is out (a bit chewed up) but once the new one is installed it should work fine.
Cobram's shortcut worked and all that I had to do was grind off the collar on the key switch and remove the wood trim piece. The casing is a little bit chewed up from where I pryed out the metal to get to the spring.
All and all it was a lot better for me than taking out the dash, steering, and IC.
Thanks again for all the input

See the link below for a picture of the "spring clip". It is located about 2/3 of the way back from the front of the switch. If you have a new switch you can measure the distant.

I removed the "Black Collar" on the ignition switch but I can't find the "release spring" does anybody know where the spring is that Cobram was referring to?
