OEM new. Huh. Probably closer to $600-$800, from the ones I've priced from
the dealer.
As for the snow tires, I have nearly always and do currently run snows in
the winter. For me, it's for two reasons. One is the occasion when I'm
pulling someone out of the ditch and want the extra traction. The other is
it shortens your braking distances in the winter. I've never needed the
second, but it's nice to know it's there just in case.
As technology continues to get better, they also wear nearly as long as all
seasons as well (not like WS-15's). But, there is a price to pay with
storing/changing the tires twice a year, and I can understand why someone
would be opposed to that. However, being in a rough climate as that, I'd
consider running snows as all seasons. I did that for two years in MT, and
it worked pretty well.
