[V8] Audi/Bose Delta II radio Question

The speakers that squeal probably have the classic bad capacitor problem.
First off, you might call your dealer to see if your car ever had the factory
recall done for the rear speakers. If not, they may still honor it. Otherwise,
and if you can solder on a circuit board, there have been many succesful repairs
done by listers - myself included. There is probably a writeup somewhere on the
internet, but basically you remove the speaker amp, locate all of the
electrolytic caps, and replace them with the same size and type but with the
highest temperature rating of 105C.

If that last sentence makes sense to you it will be an easy job. If not, there
are places that will do it for you. Hopefully someone else can point you to it.


The head unit is in my opinion just fine. Sure there are lots of cool stereos
out there, but this one looks good and works well enough. The problem if you
want to change the speakers is first, it is hard to fit anything in the front
doors, and second, the Delta II is a line level output only so you have to add
an appropriate amp somewhere. Not impossible - but the cheapest route might just
be to repair your speakers and be done with it.
If the Delta has a bad volume switch or some other serious problem then you may
well be better off just replacing the whole system. The sky is the limit in this
case.
