[V8] Dirt and Dirt

I live on a dirt road and have commuted with various
Audis and VWs over the past 5 years (25,000 km/year -
10% of on dirt). A couple of comments on dirt roads,
winter or summer:

They destroy rear brakes because dust or mud (pick
your season) gets thrown from the rear wheels
backward.

Ball joints and control arm bushings suffer a similar
fate and it's all at the back of the vehicle.

Shocks and strut mounts get hammered from the
washboard.

Small diameter wheels with lots of tire sidewall don't
get damaged as easily as 17s by rocks and holes in the
road.

Other than that, the cars just get dirty or dusty
frequently.

On the positive side, sliding the car sideways through
turns is a lot easier on low-mu surfaces than on
tarmac.

Cheers,

Alex
