[V8] smell/idle problem

Actually, my 1st thought was OXS.  It is "offline" for the first moments
while the car warms a bit, but if you've already been given input that it's
probably not the OXS, then I'd have to defer to that.  You could just unplug
your current OXS and see if the behavior is any different.
