I've posted this in the past, I thought that perhaps changing the subject might make it more apparent ...
When I was investigating this on #344 after the air bag recall fiasco I found that the coax cable for the antenna had a hollow insulator. It should be possible to buy a spool of small gauge bare copper wire and slide it into the hole in the middle. If you disconnect the cable at the amp end and use solder remover to open the end of the center conductor pin you should be able to insert the bare wire into the cable. Turn the radio on, and as soon as the reception improves you will know that you've reached the break. Push the wire in as far as possible and you should get a good enough connection to declare victory. Solder the new wire at the pin, trim the wire, put it all back together and enjoy improved reception.
