Yep. I did find it, and I did bid. Even was high bidder for a day or so.
But the bidding is beyond me now. Chris Semple will probably get it and I
think rightfully so.

The car looked ok from the weak few pictures that the owner put up.
According to the owner, the car was going about 20 miles per hour when the
belt went. Right. Probably correct, and if lucky, only about half the
valves are spaghetti and maybe there is no head damage.

But the body isn't great. The usual Audi emblem falling off syndrome has
hit this car, and it looks as though the front bumper has been scrubbed
against something...the left front corner.

The bottom line is that if someone could by something like this for about
five or six hundred bucks, and had a lot of patience and some skills with a
wrench or two, it might be a good car to sort out. But the chances are the
engine is beyond restoration, and we do not know, or at least I don't know
how the car was hauled form where it died to where it now rests. If it was
towed by the nose, then the damage to the differentials and the transmission
could be terminally catastrophic, too.

Right now, there is one fairly decent looking V8 in California, and one car
that was bought at an auction by a used car dealer in Washington, that is
decent looking also. The Washington dealership is obviously upwind from
those places in California where they exhale funny smoke, because the asking
price is delusional.

Then there are the V8's for sale at Audi Connection...oops...German Car
Connection, which is where I would go if I wasn't so patient and so
particular about the "next" V8.

Roger
