Ah, memories - sounds like a great trip! Couple of notes - I stayed right across from your hotel, up on the hill above the park. Got sandwiches every day in the station, as Germany closes on Easter, but what a great time. It is a truly beautiful city - hope you made it to the museums and walked through the Stadtpark - well worth the 30 minutes.
As for the Nurburgring, Sabine passed us in our Opel Vectra 1.6 Covertible, in her usual stint as Ring Taxi driver - she's incredible. The scariest moment, however, was getting passed into Bergwerk by the Zakspeed Viper in testing. We were going ~80 mph (max speed of the Opel) and the Viper was doing around 140 I estimate.
Scary, but what a time!
When we were there, AMG was testing the SLK55AMG - amazing to watch those little converts sounding like Mustangs and passing bikes on the outside of corners.
Definitely brought back some great memories, thanks for the writeup. Now, you should read my dissertation!
