[V8] FW: oil leak

I put the splash shield system in as well...however, being in the country
any smell - exhaust, oil burn is amplified.
So after a run the even vapors from the hot block smell up the garage.
My service record shows new headgaskets at about 40K miles. I think when the
car hit 70K miles the first owner said enough is enough.
The dealer set him up with an A8 and essentially wholesaled the V8 to me on
a "no come backs" condition.
The leak slows when the block expands which leads me to believe if the head
bolts are tightened say a 1/4 turn it will slow the flow at least 50%.
My theory is which such a short engine there is not quite the traditional
surface area there to seal the oil passage.

Paul
My V8 has the same sort of leak as yours ... I have tried to source it and
felt that it was leaking were the cyl head meets the block. I have not fixed
the leak, but I've stopped getting this comment " hey your cars smokin " I
put a simple metal plate over the crossover ( exhaust ) this way there is no
more smoke .....
