You can, but you have to have a "moto-lab" that knows what they're doing.
 I have corresponded with several V8Q owners from the former Soviet Union
that have done their engines at some "moto-labs" in Moscow.

These guys got internal components through Mahle in Germany, including
oversize pistons in one case.  Rings are available from US suppliers, not
OEM German, but they seem to work.
