[V8] Front end clunk when backing up

IME the large strut retaining nut that keeps the strut in the strut  
housing often isn't tight enough.  Use a chain wrench to check.  Best  
to remove wheel, but keep compression on strut assembly with floor  
jack or jackstand.  Other areas to check would be the bolts for the  
front inner tie rod bushings.
