[V8] mystery hose

It's me, once again, with a part that seems to go no where.  God bless 
Previous Owners...

Here is an image of the engine bay so you can get your bearings, it's 
behind the air box, passenger side.  Red arrow.

Here is a close-up view.  It appears that everything below this hose is 
gunky.  Is it a drain/expansion hose for something?
