I just wanted to post an email to the list in which I praised Bruce McGuire and his cohort of competent mechanics at the German Auto Connection (formerly known as AudiConnection) in Suffolk, Virginia.

I own two 1990 V8's with automatic transmissions (Canadian spec). They were both in need of some major servicing including TB's. I think that I could've tackled most of the work myself as I have worked as a mechanic a long time ago and have successfully done a fair number of TB's on cars including one of my V8's. However, things have been too busy lately for me to set aside the time needed to effect the repairs; furthermore, I thought that having a real V8 expert go over the cars would ensure that they were 'buttoned up' right, and that they would provide many more miles of reliable service. So I contacted Bruce who has sold me many parts over the past few years--providing great service on each occasion!

Not only did Bruce and his crew do a great job on the cars, they even traveled hundreds of miles from southern Virginia to Ithaca, NY to drive them down to the shop! My girlfriend and I picked up the cars from his parent's place in northern Virgina when they ready...just a few miles from Washington's Dulles airport.

Bruce is a perfectionist.....this is a good thing when he's the one working on your car! They are working better than ever. Furthermore, Bruce replaced/repaired countless things at no charge! He is a man of integrity. My only warning to others is that should he ever offer you any coffee that he has brewed up, you may consider diluting it....it is even stronger than the stuff that hard-core European coffee drinkers will chug down.....Bruce probably knows that he suffers from a caffeine dependence problem.

Excessive caffeine consumption aside, if any listers are at a stage where they are considering parting with their V8(s) because of a growing list of items requiring service, I recommend giving consideration to having Bruce and his boys at German Auto Connection working your car over. In my opinion, when set up right, these cars are still technologically current, safe, and a relative bargain for what you get. Bruce will help you stay on the road longer, and save you money in the long run.
