Actually, I do believe the ECU can figure out that the sensors are swapped ... and it may allow the engine to run ... no matter what, the first thing to do is to read codes ... very easily done. After the many times it gets mentioned here I'm surprised it isn't an unconscious reaction by now ...
I'm going to need to crawl under an automatic car some time ... it seems so odd to me that the common report is that the sensor mounting plate is so difficult to R&R. Have you tried pulling the LF wheel and reaching through the gap between the subframe and body that the half shaft goes through? IME accessing the connectors is difficult both from above and below ... but the plate itself is a simple matter on the 5-speeds ...
