stock size of 215/60-15 on 15x7.5 et35 rims
optional size overseas 235/50-16 on 16x8 et35 rims
more common size and reasonable fitment for everyday use would be 225/50-16
on 16x7.5 et35 rims
other optional size would be 215/55-16
Audi OEM rim options:
early A6 4.2 winter package wheels 16x8 et35 which came from the factory
with the 235/50's but could easily accomodate 225/50's.
urS6 16x7.5 et37 "Avus" rims
urS4 16x8 et40 rims
Some A4/neuS4 rims will work but their offsets are not quite right at et45
or so. Some have used these with spacers to push them back out to where
they should be in the wheel well. I feel the add'l expense, weight, and
hassle of a spacer is not worth it. Unless you're in love with one of those
wheel designs. I don't think they look quite right on the V8, regardless of
offset.
Aftermarket could provide more options. If you go tight with the offset say
et40 or more and you still have UFO's, best to test fit. I think pretty
much any 16-inch with offset of et35 or less (lower numerically) should be
okay as far any fitment interference is concerned, but may result in pushing
the wheel/tire too far out of the wheel well.
Numerically speaking, higher offset numbers will tuck the wheel/tire further
back inside the wheel well. Lower numbers will push the wheel/tire out of
the wheel well.
