[V8] Spark plugs

... there are two types of 4 ground electrode platinum plugs made by Bosch. One style imbeds a platinum puck into the end of the center electrode insulator with the tips of the ground electrodes turned up, and the other looks like a "standard" plug with an exposed metallic center electrode and ground electrodes that point at the center electrode. The latter plug is the one Audi put in the car from new, and that is what I've used to replace them. IME the factory plugs work just fine, but they are expensive. I don't have any experience with the other plugs, but I suspect these may be the ones that foul.

The reason Audi used the expensive plugs is to gain extended time between service. I'm pretty sure the factory plugs will work fine for 15K miles ... perhaps even longer ... without touching them. You will not get that kind of life from the Autolite plugs.
