I had the opportunity to move there a few years back with my
mother. She went, I stayed. I wasn't ready to cut off all ties and
move to the middle of nowhere---even if the 2 weeks I spent there were
total paradise.
Yes, you better have a job lined up. You better expect to pay way
more for everything, especially lodging. Might as well sell your car,
it's cheaper and faster to get a bike or walk. You're basically limited
to the cars that are already on the island(s) as transporting one is
outrageous. Cost of maintanence is high because there's 3 mechanics on
the island and they're all friends and there's nobody else to fix your car.
Someday, yes, I'd like to move there. It was total paradise when we
went (June). Not too hot, not too cold, not too dry, not too wet. But
you better get used to fish and high priced milk and beef.
