[V8] Ignition lock woes ...

... got a call from the wife today ... she's at the park with our daughter
and the car (AKA #2) won't start. Well, I've known the electrical switch is
on the way out ... got a new one in the trunk. There's some chance it is
heat soak on the starter, so I tell her to call me back in 15 minutes and
tell me what the symptoms are. Well, this time the car is on even when the
switch is off, and it still won't start. I get the sinking feeling that the
switch in the trunk isn't going to be enough ... pop out of work and go to
the park ... and find my fears realized. I manage to get the connector off
the back of the switch and use the new module in the trunk to get the car
running and back home. Call the dealer (of course its now 4PM on Good
Friday) ... manual tranny cars are different ... no parts in the USA ...
estimated 2 weeks to get the part in from Europe ... after the order is
placed on MONDAY ... Aargh!

Not a terribly big deal ... #344 is sitting in the driveway running and
legal ... but its got a couple minor issues of its own, so I'd like to see
if I can cobble something together with #2's ignition switch to allow it to
be usable until the part comes in ...

So, to end the long story ... have any of you managed to effect a temporary
repair of the mechanical section of the ignition lock? I'm not worried
about preserving the steering lock functionality. I'll be out there with a
drill in the morning to remove the parts and see for myself, but figured
probably someone out there's hacked about ... and perhaps with some success.

TIA!
