[V8] So what is bad/going bad here - Temp gauge pegged on	overheat?

So I couldn't figure out what was going on with the temp gauge stuck
on overheat. Once the black connector was removed the gauge would
return to the normal min/off position. This connector only supplies
current to the board, for the most part, specifically circuits 30,31
and 15. Anyhow, in the interim, I've replaced the IC with the one
from my project, er, parts car and everything seems to work except I
now have that annoying PRD321 display - annoying when you have a
manual tranny ;-) I'm sure I can disable that without much trouble.
Of course, this IC isn't perfect -- 720 miles to empty? I don't
think so!
Ideas regarding the bad circuit/tracde solder joint on the original
instrument cluster?
Ingo
