[V8] Weird Noises

Just thought of an issue I've been having.

1. When I shut off the car(happens more when it's hot) it sounds like  
a fuel pump or something
near the back of the car is still running for short bursts of 2-10  
seconds.  It makes the sounds off
and on like it's still trying to create pressure in the system.  The  
moment I open the gas cap, pressure
releases and the noise stops.  Any clues?
