[V8] background on the 94 that was on ebay?

Hey guys,
Weird situation here, a friend of mine wants a V8 and has about $8000
burning a hole in his pocket. He is not an Audi enthusiast, nor a
shade tree mechanic. However, I have a pretty good shop here that
knows Audi's that he could take the V8 to if needed (TB). We were
over at a friends house looking at cars on Ebay and spotted the 94,
but it seems there was some banter on here about this car recently if
I recall, or maybe just about the owner? He had not considered a V8
before he saw the car online and I may be leading this young man down
a dark, twisted, masochistic path with regards to V8 ownership,
especially since I may be the one wrenching on this thing most of the
time for the little stuff (maybe that makes me the masochist?) He has
ridden in my 90 V8 before so has an inkling of what may lie ahead for
him.
I tried talking him into the S8 route but he does not want a car loan
and has cash in hand, even though he could afford one without blinking
an eye. He wants AWD and a subdued yet exciting car. Just what the
V8 can provide.
So, what is the deal with the 94 Pearl that has been listed a couple
of times? The car is about 40 miles from us and I made an offer that
was about $1000.00 short of what this guy wants but would still set
the precedent for V8 pricing and make those of us with upcoming
insurance claims feel warm and fuzzy inside.
I will probably go and inspect the car myself soon if my friend is as
serious today as he was yesterday but wanted to know (RON W.?) who has
had their ear to the ground on this one and whether or not I should
just cut and run right now before I get myself involved any further.
If the car is as described it looks to be a keeper, 56K original
miles, the cleanest headliner and interior I have seen in any V8,
engine bay is spotless and from the many photos I have seen I cannot
see any serious body imperfections or misaligned gaps.
Any info on this car would be helpful, and if you can respond ASAP
that would be great.
Thanks guys!
John B
BTW, I searched through my own archives and found nothing, AW forum
does not seem to have any recent threads either. Audifans archives
are a pain to search but I am headed over there right now.
