It depends on the severity of the leak. As an oil leak will travel around to
wick into any open hole it can find I would say "its possible". Behind the
alternator there is also the oil temp sender that is closer to the lower TB
cover that could also be a culprit. 

If that area of the motor is very clean, when the car is running you should
be able to see it leak, as this is a mechanical leak, it should not have the
ability to "start" and "stop" crawl under there with the belly pan removed
and watch the engine run for 5-10 min you should see what's happening by
then.
