If you can see moisture around the distributor then I would pull the caps and
wires and use a hair drier on the connectors. Years ago I had a no start
condition after spraying the back of the block with water and it turned out
to be the wire that comes off the ignition coil to the distributor.
I was trouble shooting my own V8 beast today. The transplanted 4.2 engine
starts up fine but after it warms up and is driven for a while it starts
running odd. For one it idles at 1200 rpm, and when I accelerate and then let
up on the gas the car jerks as if the throttle is being slammed shut. Also
after warming up the car accelerate very smoothly up to 4k rpm but then it
seems to hesitate or struggle to go further up the rpm range.
