Well, the verdict is in. Apparently when I had the car on the rack, the
wrench wiggled the brake lines, and one was ready to go. It went when I a
few miles later, and that is that.
The car should be ready shortly. New brake lines, valve cover gaskets,
suspension rubber thingies, shock mounts to replace the set installed last
year which were defective, new tires and a partridge in a pear tree. The
car should be ready to go all the way to its next timing belt, which will be
around 50,000 miles down the road.
Our intent is to keep the car in service well past 200,000 miles, and I see
no reason why it won't be perfect at least that long.
This is a major big time service with a lot of stuff being done underneath
the car that in most cars just never get done at all. I am guessing that we
will blow past two grand this time. But the real question is what could be
buy if we traded this car in, and put two grand with it?
The obvious answer is nothing. Besides, there are already Ecodes in this
car and my wife loves it. (Makes my other indulgences possible!)
