... do you have a current limiting resistor with the LED? If the ECU sees too high a load (too low resistance or too high current) it assumes that you are closing the activation switch. AFAIK there is no interface with any fuel pump relay on the V8 ...
It is for this reason that I don't use a LED ... you need a current limiting resistor, and if you get the polarity on the LED backward it will not light. I have an old light/socket/wiring taken from a GT Coupe heater panel in the glove box. The other solution is to connect the wires that allow the instrument cluster MIL hooked up ... then all you need is the switch to activate the diagnostic mode ...
