[V8] there is one....
Roger M. Woodbury rmwoodbury at adelphia.net
I stopped because the simple economics argue against
buying
this car.
Here are the reasons:
1. The asking price is simply too high.
Wow, if that were a reason not to buy, I'd still be
walking and no one
would have called on the V8 I listed with an even
higher ASKING price!
(they have) Blue book is useless to a buyer here. If
the seller wants
to
sell, the price will move.

I'm going to have to agree with Mike here,
I've never bought any of the cars I've ever owned for
the "asking" price!

2. The seller claims that the car
doesn't need a timing
belt
because of mileage. But the seller can't tell me when
the timing belt
was
done, and I must assume that the car has the original
belt. The car
cannot
be driven until a major timing belt service is
performed.
Hmm, ditto on my then 42K example last year. I had
the owner drive it
to
the shop while still in his name and the risk was on
him. Simple
solution
all negotiated in the price.
3. Thus the car will have to be
transported from
Washington
to
Maine, and the cost of doing that will be around $1800
according to
DAS.
That puts the price of the car sight unseen well above
ten grand.
See #1, I bet Ron would get it for a lot less than
that!

I'm clumping 2 & 3 here.
These comments are for reason #2-
We all know that a T-belt is needed for this car,
rite??....no records, low K's..if they are the
original K's....over 3 thousand mile drive. & if you
had the belt done out there could you really trust
whoever did it??? I mean you don't know who, what,
were they would have it done..scarry!!
These comments are for reason #3-
Mike you know I can get that car for a fair bit less
than the asking price!! You know me too well :-)..but
Roger,
I prolly could get a more resonable asking price for
the car! & you wouldn't have to pay over $1,800+ A
t-belt job..
what you think that would cost you $1,500'ish?? So we
have,
$1,800- transport
$1,500- T-belt job
Thats $3,300! Not including the cost of the car.
I propose if you want the car Roger...
I can get a complete T-belt kit for round $500'ish, a
plane tix would be $250'ish, gas/tolls/ect for the
trip back $700'ish, my time..priceless..LOL, but
seriousley we could discuss that at a later time. I
could fly out, do the t-belt, ect. No worry about me
doing the belt job..I can do it with my eyes closed
now..I come highley recomended..LOL!
I really for one am sick & tired of seeing you talk
about another V8!! I for ONE want to see you in
another..who's with me???..charge..LOL
But for what....$1,500'ish + the cost of the car..not
including something for my time, could get you another
V8 in your driveway!!!!
& as far as the color combo..I felt the same as you
feel Roger..when I went to initially see Der Green
Monster, before I bought it I wasn't sure I'd be able
to like the Green/Tav, but I bought it anyway cause I
got such a great price on the car I figured color
didn't matter cause of what it is..a 4.2 V8! So when I
got it in my driveway & I looked at it more & more I
got excited cause the color combo started to grow on
me. I thought it looked "stately", very lavish
looking. I just plan felt the car looked darn sexay!
But in the end it's up to you.
Figure it out..& if this isn't the one for you & down
the road you see one you REALLY want & it's anywere
but close to you, I will extend the same offer I
did/do above!!
Thanx
Ron
