Good points about buying used. I pay very serious attention to the
engine bay. Spotless; bad, oily;bad, dirty from being used and not
cleaned-good. Engine oil not too dirty and up to the proper level;good.
I agree that you can determine all kinds of stuff from a good thorough
inspection and test drive. Service records are nice but not essential.
I'm confident that in most cases you can make an accurate determination
as to how the car was cared for. The reason I asked if any listers have
checked the car over is that I trust my fellow listers as far as
integrity and knowledge of the object of our affection, ( affliction ? )
the V8. As a 93 with only 60,000 miles I was giving some thought to
upgrading from my 1990 with 155,000 miles. However with me being in
Kasilof, Alaska it makes it tough to check things out.  So I guess I was
just wondering out loud if anyone had any hands on knowledge of the car.
The thread did generate some interesting input on what we look for in a
used car. Thanks, William
