My 91 did the same thing and it turned out to be the seat motor wire under the drivers seat.
It got hung up in the rail and stripped the insulation off and was grounding against the seat bracket.
It would not do it all the time and was a bear to find. Pull the fuse for the power seats and see if the 3 amp drain goes away

Battery goes dead in my 90 V8, have a new battery, but there's about a 2
to 3 amp (I think) steady drain here somewhere. I figure that's the
amount because my charger's meter never drops below 2 amps with
everything in the car turned off.
Checked the wires in the trunk lid hinge, OK, listened carefully for
lock motors, etc. still running, all silent.
Who are the usual suspects here? Bad alternator diode perhaps? I know
the ammeter plus pull fuses one at a time trick, but if there is a
"usual" cause that might save me some troubleshooting time, inquiring V8
owners want to know . . .
