You just solved question #1, Fatdog.
Instrument cluster anomolies are among the electricals issues common to
Audi and, especially, to the V8. Unfortunately, the searching the
Audifans.com archives, which contain many messages about fixing the IC, is
an uncertain process anymore. Fortunately, there is the very lean, but
more direct Audifans.com Knowledge Base at
http://www.audifans.com/twiki/bin/view/Audi/WebHome and more specifically,
the tidbit about ICs at http://www.audifans.com/twiki/bin/view/Audi/V8.
Perhaps others can dredge up postings related directly to the power supply
for the fuel and oil pressure gauges and someone else can add those to the
Knowledge Base.
>>I have two questions...
1) How do I post a question to get feedback on resolving the problem?
2) I have a problem with my 91 V8Q 5sp gauge cluster. The Fuel and Temp
gauge needles stay to the far right (full & hot , respectively) as long as
the
battery is connected, regardless of whether the ignition is on or off.
Pull
the battery cable and they return to the normal position. Any ideas or
suggestions for a repair shop?
