Ok guys,
Last note was about poor compression - got me all worrried - Thanks
(many thanks) to Scott Phillips for the leak down deal. Not that I didn't
know about it but once I saw the compression numbers I just plain went
crazy. Anyway, I hooked an air line to that cylinder, while it was at TDC
and low and behold there was lots of air coming out of the tail pipe, not
any out of the intake or oil fill cap. So --- I bet it is one of three
things - Burned/bent valve, stuck lifter, or incorrect cam timing. I will
give more details after I pull the exhaust header so I can see the top of
the valves - if Both valves are open then it may be a timing issue
(although I would think other cylinders on that bank would have the same
problem) or if one is open it may be a stuck lifter. I may pull the valve
cover to see if everything lines up to check cam timing. One more thought
- would this cause my 02 code? - I'm thinking it could with the cylinder
pushing un-burned fuel and air past the exhaust valve that should be
closed. Any thoughts on this will help. Oh, thanks Ron for the offer to
call you - I meant to and just didn't get to it last night - hope your
transplant went well.
Jason
