[V8] Low compression - Baffled

... when I put the new engine in #2 I could not get it to start either.  As far as I could tell the engine was getting spark and fuel, but wouldn't fire.  I never even heard signs it was trying.  It has been a couple years since that time now, so I don't remember what signs I had, but I decided to swap the injectors from the engine I pulled back onto the new engine ... with fuel rails and all it really only took a few minutes to do this.  With the "new" injectors the motor fired almost immediately.  I don't know why this worked ... but I suspect the problem was partly due to the lifters not being fully pumped up too.  

If you have some starting fluid you might want to try that to see if you can't get the engine running enough to get the oil pressure up ...
