[V8] Was V8 Euros.. are they worth it, now plastic plating and repl windshields

Replating plastic, if it's the process I'm familiar with, is called "Vacuum  
metalizing".  It's commonly used on interior pieces like A/C vent balls and  
the old '60 arm rests.  You'll find vendors in Hemmings.

BTW, I just had a new windshield put in the V8.  The glass warehouse  had a 
heck of a time finding a non-Chinese windshield (they are so wavy my  installer 
refuses to put them in).  The warehouse finally came up with a  Pilkington 
(usta be LOF) unit that was one of three listed for the Audi 5k, this  version 
with a V8 Quattro sub application.  It fits perfectly and had all  the right 
radio stuff. The only problem?  The lower mask (the black part  that hides the 
bottom of the dash) is much shorter than the original mask and  there are a 
half-a-dozen fasteners and large holes now visible through the  glass.  Bummer.  
The oddest part is that the original glass cracked  out of the blue while 
parked in storage.  There was no damage that caused  the glass to run.  I'd 
suggest that if you need a windshield, try and get  one with the correct mask or 
tape over the holes on the dash before the glass  goes in.
