This e-mail goes out to everyone that was involved in this fiasco. You know who you are and you know what I am talking about so I won't waste any more time going into detail. I would like to start out by saying there were quite a few people that e-mailed me off list telling me they didn't agree with a lot of things Roger said and also that Bruce could have been negligent in his actions while dealing with his customer(me) due to the fact that he is busy doing other things. Quite simply if you don't have the time, don't try to run a business, or tell your customer first thing that you can't help them at this time. Don't drag your feet and create issues. You either do it or you don't, there is no middle ground. To me that behavior is unacceptable when you run a business but I will not get any further into it after what I have seen take place here, BELIEVE ME! If people want to keep things under wraps, not want to speak up...all that is fine with me. I can understand why everyone wants to be "liked" by the list. A lot of you have obviously been around here for a long time and can't afford to speak in a degrading manner about anyone on the list (besides me of course) or any of your trusted vendors. The truth isn't always pleasant and many people can't handle it. I however would rather express my opinion and under no circumstances will keep quiet while I'm not treated right. I have no use to be on here, only thing I wanted were a couple measly parts so my car can be perfect when I put it up for sale. Yes I bought the V8 with the intention to keep it and have it as another project of mine(had huge plans for the car, it's my favorite body of all Audis...always has been), my car is also one of the nicest examples left in existence, but I decided that I don't want to be involved with older Audis any longer. What I wanted to do is buy another B5 S4 and keep the V8 as a side project. The headache is not worth it, nor does it make sense financially so I'm going to sell it, forget about buying another S4 since I already had one and buy an RS6 since that's my next "dream car" (one I can afford right now anyways). The B5 S4 was my first such car but I think it's time to move on to bigger, better, newer things. As I said in my "introductory" e-mail to this list some time ago, I've owned many Audis such as: 1986 5000CS Quattro, 1991 Coupe Quattro, 3 different 1991 200 20Vs, 1993 S4, 1994 Cabriolet, 1998 A4, 2000 S4, 1999 A4(current beater car) and of course the 1994 V8. I've also owned many other, mainly "temporary" cars. Every car I've owned I paid for, with money that I worked very hard for, the same for gas, insurance etc. My parents didn't buy them for me. My family has also owned mostly Audis(we are all one big Audi loving family), between all of us we have probably had every model and color Audi you can imagine and sometimes a few of each kind.
I've worked on all of my cars, never been to a mechanic and know my Audis in and out. I've stripped a 200 20V down to the bare chassis, still have many parts sitting in my attic to prove it and who knows how many other Audi parts in my garage and in storage. I pretty much rebuilt an entire A4, done timing belts, I won't even count how many clutches I've done, I mean the list goes on and on. The ONLY thing I haven't "really" done is rebuild a motor but I did fix the bottom end on a 3000GT when it spun a bearing. Other than that I've done it all, including body work and painting.
As you can see I'm not some young inexperienced punk that was born yesterday. At the same time I don't care what any of you, or anyone else for that matter, think about me. I don't care if I'm liked or not liked. I don't owe people explanations and won't let anyone judge me. I treat others the same way I would like to be treated. So if somebody mistreats me I will not hesitate to let them know, whether they like it or not, whether it makes me a bad guy or not, or whether I become disliked on some mailing list.
Enjoy your community, I will no longer be part of it. I don't need to be and most importantly I do not WANT to be!
Dan
