Just to give a bit of background...
My first car was a '95 jeep wrangler, then built it to 8" SOA,
35's...sponsored by Hella, and BFGoodrich. Sold that to buy a '91 200
20v avant. Developed type44 camber plates, for cheap. Chipped, then a
free tap1 sport turbo. Spun rods..2nd motor, spun more rods, $5K burned
on 7a cams, spec stage 5+ clutch, ect. in a matter of two weeks. Found
out I had a faulty solder on the pressure transducer, no advancement of
timing on boost. Traded titles to get this v8. did the 5 speed swap, and
now onto stand-alone. I did my buddies 034 IC on his 99 a4 1.8t. Did the
whole map for my first time of use. The joint project between my buddy
josh and i. '90 jetta vr6tt quatrro. Should be drivable by the end of
april with about 400whp.
I really just want to have control of my fueling, just so I know it not
just my lead foot.

On Andrew's side, though, are those 15 or so year old electronics that
seem
to get harder to fix every year. Having spent about 60 hours trying to
track
down the cause of my perpetual check engine light for 75k now, I can
understand why he wants to do this. And, as he has done a 5-speed swap
already (I think I have the right one), he definately has the ambition
and
know-how.
But, I also understand making a "simple" machine work as intended as
well.
And, the V8's FI system is fairly straightforward and simple. Especially
compared to more current stuff.
