Externally the "4.2" badge over the ISV is the biggest visible
difference.  The 4.2l had the stroke increased  6.6mm and the bore
increased 3.5mm over the 3.6l.  

Both blocks are an aluminum alloy with a 17% silicon content.  The
aluminum is etched away from the cylinders leaving the hard silicon as
the contact surface for the piston rings.  

Magnesium valve covers too...wonder if they're as impressive as the old
sears lawn mowers (magnesium decks) when set ablaze.....
