[V8] Personal attacks, discourse and the V8 list

Wow, just got back from a surprise vacation but I will admit, this
thread has been entertaining and upsetting at the same time.

While my V8 still sleeps in hopes of a resurrection (timing belt job
hopefully for this weekend) and others have countless "real" problems
with their V8's (THoffman, I feel for you my friend, but am glad the car
is running albeit "rough"), I think we have wasted a lot of words on
this rant while there are listers with legitimate problems and need of
help or advice.

I do second Ingo's response below, including Roger being longwinded
(tongue in cheek here, holding back the laughter...love your stories
Roger).  I have been a very appreciative recipient of a *LOT* of help
from this list and sometimes broken promises but you take the good with
the bad and also realize that the time and effort dedicated to this list
and the help provided is mostly *VOLUNTARY*.

I have been on this list for over 4 years (that's very little compared
to the THoffman's, Ingo's, RWainrights, AVegas, and more of this V8 list
) and this is the first time I have seen a blatant back and forth rant
like this.  I am personally not for it.  After Roger's comment, I think
a response directly to Roger would have been the most mature and
responsible way to handle this.  Anyway, I am still about 9-10 digest
readings behind so I do not know how this thread ends.

I agree in keeping the list respectable and dignified.  Hopefully this
has been taken off list already.

Ok, then.  First off , this list is about owners of V8's and  
repairing, sharing useful information and related items wrt these  
cars.  There is also (unlike Audiworld IME) a genuine comraderie and  
respect in tone and general discourse.  Respect is earned, and not by  
those who say "me, me, me.  I want yada yada yada."  Sorry, Dan, but  
you're the one who comes off as a complete A-hole, not Roger.  I  
think we have been generally quite helpful in responding to your "I  
need this" questioning, but really, your tone is rude and shameful.   
Yeah, I'm almost 44 and I've had my share of cars, but I don't have  
all the answers and am not ashamed that I don't.  Until you decide to  
show some humility you will find this list to be a most unfriendly  
and inhospitable place for you.  Yeah, Roger gets a bit longwinded,  
but we understand that and I don't have  problem with it.

I suggest you look to your postings to the list and see what kind of  
an impression you make to your fellow listers.  Personal attacks,  
swearing and the like have no place here.
