There's a guy who used to work here who did a similar thing to bicycles ... he'd turn the seat tube into a bearing much like the head tube ... that way he could steer from front or back, and ride with the front and back askew.  This might be a fairly easy thing to do with the original quattros (like the urq or 4kQ) as they have all the parts to make the rear steerable ...
