[V8] Causes of Bad MPG?
quattro + 5 or 8 = fun

i don't think you would have a problem. however, when i lived in WA state, i
tried and experiment one VERY cold night. i left two bottles of oil sitting
outside. one was a 20w50 the other a 10w30. both were the old mobil1
formula. in the morning, before the sun was out, the temp was about 10
degrees. I opened both and poured them into a cup. there was no question
there was a VISIBLE difference in terms of how the 10w30 poured over the
20w50. the 20w50 was MUCH thicker. i personally run straight 30 weight in
my truck all year round. why? it has VERY bad stem seals. 30 weight seems
to slow the blowby a bit. and honestly, i really could care less about the
startup effects of the thick oil on a 1986 f350 with a 7.5 liter. the damn
thing wont break. been doing that for 10 years and the thing runs as good
as it did when i got it. on my v8 though, the tollerances are much better.
i am a bit more concerned about that engine. however, since moving to CA
all i run is 20w50.
