[V8] Causes of bad MPG - Part II

First off - thanks for all the repies, I never expected all of that.

Last night I pulled the v8 (#2) in the garage and put her on the stands.
First thing I did was disconnect the LED I had hooked up and then I found
the connector under the consol for the CEL. For your info, one side of it
is taped to a harness that is very close to where the left side of the
center consol meets the aluminum dash brace that runs across the car - the
other end is harder to find - it seems to be taped to a harness that runs
across the top of the switches in the consol, and is better accessable
from the right hand side. Both connectors are black with a black / white
stripe wire. Anyway, thanks for the info on finding that wire. Next, I
checked the codes - the CEL wasn't on but I got a 2341 - o2 sensor out of
range - possible causes: Rich or lean for various reasons - fuel pressure,
intake/exhaust leak or it could be a faulty o2. I get under the car,
check the wiring from the ECU to the sensor - good. Check the heater -
good. Start the car, check for fluctuation in voltage from ground to
signal wire - slow, but picks up as exhaust gets hot - normal so that
seems good. Then I notice that someone has done a patch job on the x
pipe, very near the o2, I also notice that it may not be a good patch job
because I see some condensation bubbling from a small hole - could be
sucking air into the exhaust stream and contaminating the reading on the
o2. I have an extra x pipe that is in decent shape so I plan to try that
tonight. I will give you an update then. Thanks again,

                                   Jason
