It is a great looking car. I have always maintained that the design is
timeless in a way - It is curvy enough to attract attention when current
designs look like a stick of butter on a hot day, and sharp enough when
everything is boxy... It is, in my opinion, one of the few cars that will
always have a strong, capable, confident, and sometimes sinister look. And
it has the goods to be more than a show.
I had given my black on black V8 a wash and wax one Saturday about two years
ago. It was a beautiful day and the sun was just setting. I finished up
and decided to run a quick errand. I parked the car on the street in front
of the store. As I came out there was a brand new black 5 series with
temporary tags parked behind me. The owner got out of his car, smiled at
how proud he was of himself and said "is that the new Audi?" We chatted for
a few minutes and then I broke the news to him that my car was a 1990. Not
to put down the 5 series - but in comparison the V8 just looked like it knew
what it was doing that night!

Did I tell you guts about the guy in the red '04 gto who, after following me
for about 5 miles at 100 mph or so as we ran up the nj turnpike, actually
got off an exit early to follow me to the first traffic signal, arms
a-flailing trying to get my attention? He was in his mid-30s or so and kept
his goat real clean -- anyway, when he finally got next to me 2 lights later
and we rolled down our windows, he simply said my car was really really
great looking! Wanted to know as much as possible about what it was while
the light was red. I told him and he said he had to get back to the highway
to make it to work so he could spend the morning searching "audi v8 quattro"
on the internet...
Felt kinda nice! So I understand your sentiment Tomas!
