& George...the train will be chugg chuggin down your
way soon! Hopeing to have 3 other 5spds in tow with me
8-) that are relativley local to me & meet up with
Dave C, Markey Mark, & Kyle L..that would make 7 v8
5spds...anyone else wanna join the 1st anuall v8 5spd
club??????? & yah I suppose Auto's are welcome as well
;-P

But as I said on the phone with you I have to come
see the car..as was discussed valve stem seals..or
rings Like how I have both ends covered....but
you said that the block is original & you had the
heads done & it was happening a bit before you had the
heads off so I would surmise the valve stem seals
aren't seating properley!
But I gotta see it.

If the motor is snikeyed I may have a solution for
you.
But you'll be in the loop of my crazy...mad....last
minute "excellent adventure part dex".

Ron Mit 5spd smile Ingo still ;-)

$1500 for your 5spd V8!!!! That is unbelievable.

By the way, did you have any more thoughts on the oil
burning with my
V8, or is it something that you have to look at close
up?

Interestingly I read an article from a British car
classic magazine
over
the weekend, they were comparing Jaguar Mk 2 and
Daimler 250 sedans,
and
in it they indicated that oil burning on startup was
usually poor valve
stem seals while oil smoke on light acceleration was
due to a head
problem. Now this seems very close to what I have
going on where I
don't
actually get a puff of smoke on the startup, but a
couple of seconds
afterward, and then more smoke as I accelerate. When
the V8 is actually
running at steady speed there doesn't appear to be any
smoke coming
from
the tail pipe.

Do you think the author is mistaken in his analysis,
or can the heads
cause that sort of problem on acceleration?

George
