Progress report number # 22

Well the big project is going well except for being tied up for the last
couple of weeks putting in a Stone Patio . ( must keep wife happy )

Both cylinder heads have been finished. No real trouble lapping the
valves, but had a little trouble when my new torque wrench messed up and
I over torque the ( cam bearing cap ) stud snapping it inside the cyl
head ...F%^& !!..... was able to get it out after 1/2 hour of swearing.
Valve seals replaced , and all other seal . Valves cleaned , intake and
exhaust ported & polished a little . I'm taking lots of pictures as I go
along .

Last week I was working on the intake manifold and took the bottom and
top apart . Very interesting how this is built . I've been having
sticking issues with the throttle linkage , but it turned out that none
of the * bearings were the problem, it was sticking at the Duel
butterflies. I gave it a good clean out and the binding has stopped. The
butterfly Valves would stick open just a little bit and cause a higher
RPM ( and an Idle problem code ) . So as a note if you have a sticking
throttle , I would first check the cruz control rod for binding then if
the sticking continues I would take the components off to get at the two
butterfly valves and give the area a good cleaning . ( seafoam )

Next job taking the Auto Trans out ( 400lbs ) to replace with new trans
.

to be continued ........

* there is a rod that goes from the rear of the engine to the front of
the engine . the Throttle Rod goes through these bearings .
