"frugal but not cheep"  That is a good way to put it to words.  Quality
is very important to me and I don't blow my money on every little thing
that I think I "need".  A few of my friends will call me cheap on
occasion, but they usually have a stack of maxed credit cards killing
their argument.
This is a good exercise to go through, I had to think about this list
for a
moment:

- Audi V8 (definitely on the list!)

- 1969 Ariens snow blower

- La Pavoni Eurepiccola espresso/cappuccino machine
  Bunn A10 coffee maker (oh heck - just caffeine alone would cover this
item!)

- AT Cross desk set

- Henckels chief's knife

- 71 Bertram Sport Fisher

- 4 cell Maglight

- a house with a 28'x48' garage

- Last but not least - Friends and Family

So I was thinking... I consider myself frugal but not cheap.  And for
the most part its paid off many-fold. But in my day-to-day, there's been
a few things that consistently and without exception satisfy beyond
expectations -- random items for which I look forward to each and every
opportunity to utilize.

-- snap-on hook/pick tool

-- stihl chain saw

-- omega speedmaster

-- bruno magli shoes

-- all-clad omelet pan


Honorable mentions
- cub cadet lawn tractor
- craftsman lo-profile aluminum jack
- a house
- biermeister
- porter cable air compressor


Certainly there's plenty others, from both the present and past. And
this doesn't take into account non-material stuff. But man, I know these
are on the list, and I'm glad I got 'em.
