Andy
It must be a v8 thing... I had a similar nightmare, and my wife almost got
arrested for it on the side of the road. In her case, she forgot to change
her address on a previous move, which resulted in a suspended plate due to
ignoring an emissions notice.... Which then suspends the plate and license of
the driver.... Then she got stopped for a traffic assist, and it all hit the
fan, no proof of ins, no registration, driving on susp lis, susp plates,
state cop was ready to cuff her.

I called a lawyer right away, and got all charges dropped (ended up spending
30 hours tracking down a suspended plate due to a sold car notice), but it
was at court. If you end up with a court date on this, get a lawyer. If
there is any grey area on the effective policy date, don't do this pro se. The
upside is you could clear it all up, the downside could be that a lot of bad
things follow this conviction.
