[V8] It's amazing what the right part will do.

Hey listers.

Purchased the car in November. Previous Owner said some trouble
with sunroof, didn't know where one wire went. Opened the thing up to
find a late model V8 motor wired into an early model V8. Later model
motors had different microswitch contact wheels, a different relay, and
about twice as many wires. Connecting that motor to power would have
the sunroof try to retreat back on its own. Lucky for me, they hacked
wires on the motor end, not the vehicle.

Bought an early V8 sunroof motor from eBay. Ten minutes to install
and my sunroof works once again.

Wow, you mean if I put in the correct part, the thing will work!?

My sunroof problem now resides in two small issues. The headliner
for the lift panel has separated. I'm going to try some contact cement
first then mounting tape. Secondly, the spring loaded lift panel
(lower) stays up all the time. Is there some rail that's supposed to
push it back down when the upper lift panel retreats back in? I have a
feeling that fixing this requires disassembly of the sunroof panel---if
so, I'm going to leave it.
